DTM championship winning Huracán GT3 EVO2 - to join Lamborghini Museum

 2024-12-11

Lamborghini is commemorating its breakthrough DTM title success by displaying the championship-winning #92 SSR Performance Huracán GT3 EVO2 in the Lamborghini Museum at its Sant’ Agata Bolognese headquarters.

Starting from December 23rd, the DTM title winner will sit in the Automobili Lamborghini Museum alongside some of the most iconic Lamborghini models, including the Huracán GT3 EVO that gave Lamborghini Squadra Corse its second victory at the Daytona 24-Hour race in 2019, in which Bortolotti was also at the wheel.

A dedicated handover ceremony took place yesterday [Tuesday 10th December], with SSR Performance making the delivery of the car to Sant’ Agata Bolognese. Overseeing the ceremony were Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Federico Foschini, Lamborghini Chief Technical Officer Rouven Mohr as well as Lamborghini Factory Driver Mirko Bortolotti.

“Three years ago, we entered the DTM championship for the very first time. It was a very important first step for us, to be involved in such an iconic and historic series that has, for many years, provided some of the most exciting racing in the world,” stated Winkelmann.

“Since our first season in the DTM we have learnt a lot about the series and grown as a brand as a result. Last year, we began our partnership with SSR Performance who have showcased their professionalism and expertise both on and off the track. The hard work and dedication that they have shown, especially this season, has been rewarded with the ultimate prize.”

For the first time since 1993, an Italian brand and driver won the coveted championship as Mirko Bortolotti wrapped up the drivers’ crown in the final round of the season at Hockenheim. In just Lamborghini’s fourth full season in the DTM, and second with SSR Performance, the Huracán GT3 EVO2 has been one of the most successful cars, picking up a total of nine victories, nine pole positions and 28 podiums.

“To win any championship, but especially the DTM championship, you need to have consistency, performance and strong teamwork,” said Mohr. “SSR Performance and Lamborghini Squadra Corse produced the strongest package this year and I think it’s fair to say that this collaboration has developed into something truly special, so I want to say a big thanks to Stefan Schlund and his team for creating these fantastic memories that we will keep forever.

“But, of course, without a driver, neither the team nor the brand can achieve anything on the track. So, we are delighted that Mirko Bortolotti, one of our talented official factory drivers, fulfilled a career dream by becoming drivers’ champion. His consistency and professionalism throughout the year has been a key element to this success and he completely deserves this recognition.”

During the 2024 DTM season, Lamborghini claimed four race wins, with Bortolotti showcasing a remarkable level of consistency all year, finishing in the points in every race. His three pole positions and solitary victory proved a key part of the historic title triumph and helped Lamborghini finish second in the manufacturers’ standings.
