The international students who flock to Paris love to blend in with the locals. “This collection is a tribute to university students who are curious, eager to learn, and enriched by their contact with other cultures. They share an apartment in the capital with girls from different countries, and all of them adapt to life in Paris, cultivating a style that draws on diverse inspirations,” explains Longchamp Creative Director Sophie Delafontaine.
Tointegratesuccessfully, studentstakingArtclasses at Longchamp University have their own dress code: sweatshirts, tees, jackets and even dresses emblazoned with the logo of the institution. For days when they want to look really chic, they wear jeans and a jacket with a stylized racehorse print, or shrug on a zebra-stripe coat over their sweatshirt. Sometimes, they wear Bermuda shorts to attend a lecture, or else to drink tea in the Latin Quarter or Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
Though they’re very studious, they still make time to go out at night in the City of Light. Like true Parisiennes, they know how to give a casual twist to a sequined dress with a gray cottonT-shirt.
On vacation, they head to Saint-Tropez, where they wear shorts made from upcycled silk scarves, crochet pieces with sweet daisy motifs, and long, slinky dresses with daring cutouts. They stroll around in sandals from Longchamp’s collaboration with K.Jacques, the iconic artisanal house synony- mous with Saint-Tropez.
For the beach, their bag of choice is a large, woven Pliage® hold-all, but back in Paris, mini Pliage® and tiny Roseau or Epure bucket bags assert their city credentials. For class, the roomy Très Paris shoulder bag in supple calfskin combines style and practicality.
Erasmus students are quick to pick up the codes of the Parisienne. So what is their philosophy? “Printed on the sweatshirt, which is the statement piece of the Longchamp University collection, are the words “optimiste“ and “universel“. These values of universality and positivity capture the spirit of Longchamp to perfection,” says Sophie Delafontaine.
The must-have: the cropped sweatshir t or the knotted tee printed with the Longchamp signature. The stand-out look: the long, sequined vest-dress. The piece that says spring: the sleeveless jacket in cutout lambskin with crochet daisy motifs.
The vacation essential: the shorts made of upcycled silk scarves, worn with a mismatched bra top. The key print: the all-over stylized racehorse motif on denim. Positive colors: warm shades of orange, yellow and strawberry pink, plus deep purple. And, of course, black, white and khaki, truly universal.
The fabrics: cotton, crochet, embroidery, denim and lambskin, mixed with sequins, fluid metallics and technical jersey.
The bags of the season: le Pliage® in straw-like canvas – the small, soft Roseau bucket – the color-block Box-Trot
The star shoes: the square-heeled loafer-clogs with daisy motifs – the K.Jacques x Longchamp sandals – the Roseau espadrilles
The cute detail: the string of colored beads to hang from your bag.
