A Miura SV wins Class G “From Carnaby Street to the Autostrada: The Swinging GT Driver”, where a Countach also took part

At the 2026 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, one of the world’s most prestigious events dedicated to historic automobiles, two classic Lamborghini models from private collections took part in Class G “From Carnaby Street to the Autostrada: The Swinging GT Driver.” The cars displayed were a 1971 Miura SV, currently undergoing certification by Lamborghini Polo Storico, and an already-certified 1974 Countach LP400. The presence of the Miura carried special significance in 2026, the year in which the model celebrates the 60th anniversary of its debut at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show. The Miura, celebrating its 60th anniversary as model this year, won the class award, further confirming its extraordinary historical and collectible value.

“The presence at Villa d’Este of Lamborghinis certified or undergoing the certification process through Polo Storico is a source of great pride,” commented Giuliano Cassataro, Head of After Sales at Automobili Lamborghini. “Our mission is to preserve and enhance the brand’s historic heritage, supporting clients and collectors in maintaining the authenticity of their cars. Today, Polo Storico certification represents an increasingly important tool for documenting the history and conformity of classic Lamborghini cars and is ever more frequently requested to complement the documentation accompanying vehicles at the world’s leading concours events.”

Among the cars entered in the competition was a 1971 Miura SV. Delivered on 10 September 1971 for the Italian market through the historic dealer Lamborauto Torino, the car retains its original configuration of white exterior paintwork and blue leather interior. As the final evolution of the Miura, the SV represents the ultimate development of the model widely regarded as the world’s first modern super sports car. Powered by a transversely mounted rear 3.9-liter V12 engine, the Miura SV produced 385 CV and introduced significant technical and styling advancements over earlier versions, including wider tracks and further refined chassis tuning. Sixty years after its unveiling, the Miura remains one of the most celebrated and recognizable Lamborghini models at the world’s leading concours events dedicated to classic automobiles.

Alongside the Miura, a Countach LP400 was also displayed in competition. Delivered on 1 October 1974 for the French market through dealer Thepenier, the car stands out as the ninth Countach ever produced and the only example to leave the factory in “Marrone” exterior color with “Naturale” interior trim. Recently restored, the authenticity of its exterior color was confirmed following the discovery of the original paint beneath layers applied over the years. As the first production evolution of the Countach, the LP400 represents one of the purest interpretations of Marcello Gandini’s design for Bertone and remains one of the most iconic versions of the model. Equipped with a rear longitudinally mounted 4.0-liter V12 engine, the LP400 delivered 375 CV and exceeded 300 km/h, performance figures that made it one of the most advanced and desirable cars of the 1970s.
